Manually Removing Ezula/TopText Part II

In a normal and ethical world, you would now be 100% ScumWare free.

An uninstall program would... uninstall. What an amazing concept.

Sadly, ScumWare creators do not live in such a world. You have removed only the visible part of the ScumWare and they have left everything they need in order to keep right on spying on you.

In fact, they have even left what they need to reinstall the complete ScumWare system with no effort or awareness on your part. I won't post the URL to the demo web page which merely by visiting will instantly reinstall the full-blown ScumWare. Real salt of the earth, aren't they?

4. Search your hard disk for a file named 'stub.exe'.

Start by clicking on the "Start" button in your Task Bar, as shown here.

5. Simply type "stub.exe" (without the quotes) in the text box as shown here and click on the "Search Now" button to perform the search.

6. The Search Results window should show that the 'stub.exe' file is in the:

  • the "Windows/System" folder or in

  • the "Windows/System32" folder

NOTE: If you find a file named 'stub.exe' in the CuteFTP folder - do not delete it. It has nothing to do with TopText.

  •
    7. On my system it was found in the "Windows/System" folder which you can see to the right.

If you don't find a file named "stub.exe" approximately 56K in size, you do not have the re-installer installed and you are finished cleaning TopText from your computer.
